Who is Savannah?

Hi, I'm Savannah Hipes, Licensed Clincial Social Worker and Psychotherapist in Florida & New York. I specialize in helping people with sleep problems, especially when anxiety plays a role. I know how miserable it is when you've been sleepless and exhausted for so long that you start to feel anxious when the sun goes down. Sleep issues often start in the body, but they quickly move to impacting your thoughts and mental health too. I love using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia because it helps us retrain both our bodies, and our minds to sleep.

Are you struggling with persistent insomnia or other sleep issues? You're not alone. With online sleep therapy, 85% of patients reach their therapy goals with us in 4-8 sessions. You can reclaim restful nights and vibrant days. I'm here to help.

My Journey as a Sleep Therapist

We used to think people with poor sleep were lazy. So many of us judge both ourselves and others regarding sleep, and our friends says "just go to bed earlier" or "none of us sleep, it's just part of aging". We think this is a normal part of life and we should stop complaining about it.

Let me be clear. This is NOT normal. There IS hope for finally getting restful sleep, even after decades of insomnia. I've seen it.

Empowering You Beyond Insomnia

Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia is an incredibly effective way of alleviating chronic, severe insomnia. Research shows it works as well as sleeping pills in short term measures, and the results stick well when beyond treatment ends. I’ve seen this in my practice. Whether it is the determined hedge fund manager staying up all night worrying about how he will function on so little sleep to the new mom tossing and turning and only getting that light, shallow sleep, I’ve helped them reach their sleep goals and achieve their ambitions.

Recently, I found a similar issue is happening to people who experience nightmares. Maybe this is driven by chronic anxiety, or by a stressful experience they thought they'd moved past. Their psychiatrist prescribes something to help, but it sedates them rather than resolving the issue. They still feel distracted during the day thinking about the dream, or find themselves avoiding sleep to avoid the fear.

My favorite thing about sleep therapy is empowering others to move through their fear towards the kind of life they want to live. Whether it's fear of nighttime panic, daytime drowsiness, or getting off your sleep meds, this fear doesn't have to control you. It is possible, using evidence-based and scientifically proven treatments, to quickly abandon feeling like a slave to sleep and instead feel like the boss of your own life.
